A few highlights for this year...
* New to cyclocross, check out the New to Cyclocross link below and the Boulder's premier cyclocross shop, Boulder Cycle Sport, for clinics
*Tot Races - Pictures - After last year's success at the Louisville race and the kids clamoring for more, we'll have a 8 and under 'race' at each event.
12:30 start time and mom or dad need to fill out a waiver.
* Beer Gardens - we all love the libations and we'll have plenty for all at the races (except for the Xilinx venue).
* Volunteers - we can never have enough volunteers, so if you want a complimentary entry let us know. If your ACA team needs to help promote a race we can help, but let us know quick as our races are being snatched up.

Cyclocross Cyclocross originated in Europe as the answer to the off season of road racing during the winter. Its been called the steeplechase of cycling, 6-8 minute laps over varied terrain with mandatory dismounts while using a bike similar to road bike, but with enhancements that cater it to the sometimes mountain bike-like terrain.

Where Here are the venues we'll be using this year...

  • Race #1, Louisville Rec Center Some love it and some hate it. They added new bike path to the area this year, but the hills are still there. Plenty of room to pass on this course and the uphill runs can take there toll on you. There's a great playground for the kiddos as well.

Location: 900 West Via Appia, Louisville. From Denver take Hwy 36 west to McCaslin Blvd turn right at off ramp. Follow McCaslin to Via Appia, make a right. Rec Center on right. From Boulder take S. Bldr rd to McCaslin. Right on Mc Caslin, left on Via Appia.     Click for MAP

  • Race #2, Broomfield Interlocken East Park: Tall, lush, green grass, unheard of in Colorado. This early season race is a great primer requiring some extra power to navigate the course's ample grass riding. The tight venue has great spectating and easy to see all the action. A sand pit and short, but brutal run-ups come at no extra change.

Location: 300 Interlocken Blvd, Broomfield. From Denver take Hwy 36 west to Wadsworth (287) turn right at top of the off ramp heading south. At the next light at 128 (Interlocken Loop) take a right heading west. Make your first right on Interlocken Blvd. Look for signs to park.     Click for MAP

  • Race #3, Boulder Reservoir: Reminescent of Belgiun style courses with plenty of tough sand for riding and running. This course is also great when it snows. Unlike some other races at the Res, we go to great lengths to avoid the nasty Goat Heads. We've mapped them all out, make our course on both sides to avoid them and use astro turf as a last resort. GHs are not a problem at our races. Now only if we could get the other races to step.

Location: From Denver: Hwy, 36 West to Foothills Parkway, go north, continue until it becomes Diagonal Hwy, left on Jay Rd, and first right on 51 St, follow until Boulder Reservoir entrance on the right. From Boulder, ride your bike!     Click for MAP

  • Race #4, Xilinx: This Aspen ski lodge setting provides runs through the woods, fast pavement and techinical riding sections. Use the road sections to bridge up to or gap your competitors, but don't make any mistakes on the trails once your away.

Location: 3100 Logic Drive, Longmont. Follow the Diagnol northeast from Boulder towards Longmont for approx. 8 miles. Just before entering Longmont make a left on Fordham heading north. Fordham was only recently extended to the Diagonal, so few maps will show it correctly. There is a large stone Xilinx sign out by the intersection of Fordham and the Diagnol. Race parking is at the top of the hill in the northeast parking lot. Follow marshals to parking.     Click for Map

    Volunteers Needed

As you can imagine, putting on as many races as we do, it gets very tiring and we can use all the help we can get. Setup starts at 6:00am and lasts until the first race and we usually have bagels in the morning.

Marshal help is needed all day long, and tear down starts at 3:45pm until 5:00pm. Stick around after the Pro/ and Junior races and help for ten minutes, it makes a huge difference.

Work for 3 hours or more and get a free entry. To help, check in at registration on race day.

Prizes For the overall we'll have over $5,000 in cash/prizes from the generous support of our sponsors. Cash will goto the fastest men and women and look out for primes along the way. Stay tuned for a prize list.
